How to Stay Motivated in Life and Business.

A young child of ten years old strolled into Disneyland in Anaheim, California, in 1955, just as it had opened its doors for business, and requested for a job. Since there were less restrictions on working conditions in those days, the young man was able to secure a job selling guidebooks at a price of fifty cents each.

Within a year, he had moved on to working in the magic shop at Disney, where he was taught techniques by the more experienced staff members. He tested out many jokes and basic routines on the audience members that came to his show. Soon after, he came to the realisation that what he enjoyed the most about performing was not magic specifically, but rather performance in general. He committed himself to pursuing a career in comedy.

When he was still a teenager, he began his performance career by playing in several small bars all across the Los Angeles area. The audiences were not very large, and his performance was not very long. It was unusual for him to be on stage for longer than five minutes at a time. The majority of the folks in the crowd weren't paying attention because they were either preoccupied with drinking or conversing with their companions. One evening, he performed his stand-up performance in front of a club that was completely empty.

Even while the task wasn't particularly appealing, there was little question that he was advancing in skill. In the beginning, each of his acts would only go on for one to two minutes. When he was in high school, he already had enough material for a five-minute performance, and then a few years later, he developed it into a ten-minute show. When he was nineteen years old, he was already doing weekly performances lasting twenty minutes each. Even though he had to read three poems during the concert in order to make the routine sufficiently long, he continued to make improvements in his talents.

Another decade was devoted on his research, development, and training in this field. He got a job writing for television, and over time he was able to work his way up to making appearances on talk shows as a guest host. By the middle of the 1970s, he had established himself as a regular guest on The Tonight Show and Saturday Night Live thanks to his years of hard work.

After nearly fifteen years of hard effort, the young guy was finally successful enough to achieve fame. In the span of sixty-three days, he visited sixty different cities. After that, we visited seventy-two cities in a total of eighty days. Then we visited eighty-five cities over the course of ninety days. One of his shows in Ohio drew an audience of 18,695 people. Another 45,000 tickets were bought to see him perform in New York over the course of three days. He skyrocketed to the top of his field and emerged as one of the most successful comedians working during that time period.

He goes by the name Steve Martin.
